Who Can Try Race Car Simulation?

Race car simulation is suitable for beginners, enthusiasts, and experienced racers alike. No prior experience is required to enjoy the full experience, and our team is always on hand to guide you.

Is Race Car Simulation Safe?

Absolutely. Unlike real-world racing, our simulators allow you to enjoy high-speed racing thrills without any real-world risk, while still delivering the authentic feel of a professional racetrack.

Can I Customize My Experience?

Yes! At SIMPRO Academy Phuket, our simulators allow you to adjust settings, car types, and track conditions to match your skill level and preferences. Whether you want a beginner-friendly experience or a full professional-level challenge, our equipment—including SIMUCUBE steering, Simtrecs pedals, and VR setups—ensures a personalized, realistic, and exciting racing session every time.

The equipment and the data behind it

Our racing rigs are built from professional-grade components, not consumer toys. You drive with a Simucube 2 Pro direct-drive wheelbase and Simtrecs load-cell pedals — the same class of hardware used by competitive sim racers — on 32-inch curved triple monitors, with VR available if you prefer full immersion. The platform is iRacing, and the standard training car is the Mazda MX-5 Cup: forgiving enough for beginners, precise enough to teach real technique.

What sets a SIMPRO session apart is the telemetry. Every lap is recorded, so in your debrief you can see exactly where you braked, how you applied throttle, the line you took through each corner, and how your lap times changed. That data is how improvement stops being a feeling and becomes something you can measure and repeat.

The platform: iRacing, and why we start on the Mazda MX-5 Cup

We run iRacing — the platform professional and semi-professional drivers use for practice and competition. It models tyre behaviour, grip loss and car balance closely enough that what you learn transfers.

The standard training car is the Mazda MX-5 Cup. Low power, high feedback. It will not flatter you with straight-line speed, which is exactly the point — it rewards clean inputs and shows you immediately when you are sloppy. Once you are consistent in it, faster cars make sense. Start in a faster car and you learn very little except how to spin.

Other cars and circuits are available as you progress, and we also run Automobilista 2, EA Sports WRC, Assetto Corsa Competizione and others.

Sim racing at home vs a professional rig

If you already race at home, the honest question is what you actually gain by coming here.

Three things, mostly. A Simucube 2 Pro direct-drive wheelbase puts far more detail through the rim than a belt or gear-driven wheel — you feel the front tyres beginning to slide rather than finding out afterwards. Simtrecs load-cell pedals measure brake pressure rather than pedal travel, which is how a real brake behaves and the change most drivers notice first. And the rig is bolted down, so nothing flexes or shifts when you load it up.

The fourth thing is not equipment at all. It is having someone next to you who can look at what you are doing and tell you where the time is going.

Plenty of drivers use a session here to work out what to buy next. That is a perfectly good reason to come.

Race nights, leaderboards and the Sports Lounge

Sim racing is better with other people in it.

We run race nights where everyone drives the same car on the same circuit and the times go up on a leaderboard. Beginners included — the gap closes faster than you would think once someone shows you where to brake.

SIMPRO sits inside Soho Pool Club,so the Sports Lounge is a few steps away. F1 nights, race weekends on the screens, and somewhere to sit afterwards. Race first, then argue about the race.

Group bookings work the same way: team socials, birthdays, corporate afternoons. Tell us how many and we will set it up.

Getting started

Book a session, arrive in thin-soled shoes, and we will handle the rest.

You do not need experience, your own equipment, or any preparation. We set your seating position, walk you through the wheel and pedals, and start you on a circuit that suits your level.

If you already race, tell us what you drive and what you are working on, and we will set the rig up to match.

SIMPRO Academy is inside SOHO Pool Club at  Boat Lagoon Marina about 15 minutes from Phuket Town and 20 from the airport, with parking on site.

Open every day, 9am – 9pm.

Yes. VR is available for racing sessions and puts you properly inside the car — you can look into the apex through the corner rather than around a screen bezel.

The triple-screen setup works just as well, and plenty of drivers prefer it, especially for a first session or for longer stints. Tell us which you would like when you arrive, and you can switch part-way through if you change your mind.

Yes — plenty of the drivers who book have never used a professional rig before. You will be shown how the wheel, pedals and shifter work, and how the force feedback communicates what the car is doing, before you start. The Mazda MX-5 Cup is chosen precisely because it rewards clean inputs and does not punish you for being new. Nothing is assumed, and if something is not making sense, say so and we will go through it again.

Yes! At SimPro Academy Phuket, you can absolutely compete against your friends. Our simulators support multiplayer racing, allowing you and your group to drive on the same track in real time. It’s a fun and competitive way to challenge each other, compare lap times, and enjoy a shared racing experience. Whether it’s a casual match or a friendly rivalry, racing with friends always adds extra excitement to your session.

Comfortable, casual clothing. The one thing that genuinely matters is footwear: thin-soled shoes — trainers rather than boots or sandals — because the pedals are load-cell and you brake by pressure. A thick sole dulls the feel and makes consistency harder.

Avoid loose sleeves or anything that could catch on the wheel. The room is air-conditioned, so bring a layer if you feel the cold.

iRacing is generally considered the most accurate, which is why we run it. Realism comes from the physics model and the force feedback rather than the screens — a direct-drive wheelbase and load-cell pedals tell you far more about what the car is doing than extra monitors ever will.

Sim racing is demanding, but real driving involves physical forces.

Yes, thin-soled shoes develop pedal control, consistency, and comfort during long sim racing
sessions.

As a beginner, begin with beginner-friendly simulator sessions, learn the braking points, racing
lines, and practice consistently.

For the best beginner sim racing setup, you need a force-feedback wheel, sturdy rig, load-cell
pedals, and a single ultrawide monitor.

In sim racing, first upgrade pedals, and after that, focus on braking precision since it can
improve lap times more than visuals or the wheel.

Yes, 144 Hz offers quick response, smooth visuals, and is sufficient for competitive sim racing.

The ones that pair an accurate physics engine with proper hardware — a direct-drive wheelbase, load-cell pedals, and real telemetry you can review afterwards. That is the setup we run at Boat Lagoon: professional-grade, fixed-base, on iRacing.

Realism comes from three things: the physics model, the quality of the force feedback, and whether you get your data back afterwards.

On software, iRacing models tyre behaviour, grip loss and car balance closely enough that professional drivers use it for practice. On hardware, a direct-drive wheelbase and load-cell pedals make far more difference than screens do — they are what let you feel the front tyres letting go, and brake by pressure the way you would in a real car.

What our rigs do not have is motion. They are fixed-base, and we would not claim otherwise. You get the forces through the wheel and the pedals, not through the seat. That is the honest limit — and it is why the skill that transfers is racecraft and consistency rather than physical car control.

iRacing on most assessments, with Assetto Corsa Competizione close behind for GT racing. Both model tyre behaviour and grip loss closely enough that professional drivers use them for practice — which is why iRacing is our default platform.

The most popular and realistic sim racing platforms are iRacing and Assetto Corsa.

Racing simulator games refer to realistic driving software replicating car tracks, physics, and
handling.

According to many professionals, iRacing is the most accurate, with Assetto Corsa
Competizione.
