Yes — most people who book have never flown a simulator before.

You will be shown how the joystick, throttle and main instruments work before you start, then talked through a takeoff, some straightforward flying, and a landing to finish. Nothing is assumed and there is no test at the end. If something is not making sense, say so and we will go through it again.

Comfortable, casual clothing — nothing specialised needed.

If you are using the VR headset, tying long hair back helps it sit properly, and you may want to leave bulky earrings off. Glasses are fine under the headset. The room is air-conditioned, so bring a layer if you feel the cold.

Yes! At SimPro Academy Phuket, you are welcome to enjoy food and drinks during your session. You can even order directly from SOHO Pool Club, making it easy to stay refreshed and energized while racing, flying, or enjoying a group experience. This ensures your session is both comfortable and enjoyable without having to step away from the action.

Repetition without consequence. You can fly the same approach ten times, get it wrong, and learn something each time — which is not an option in a real aircraft. That is why simulator training is standard in aviation, and it is the same reason it works for beginners.

The cost sits in the hardware and the software, not the screens. Precision controls, force-feedback and load-cell components, licensed simulation software and the machines to run it all add up — and it needs maintaining and updating to stay accurate. Certified motion-platform simulators cost far more again, which is why they are limited to airline training centres.

Visually and geographically, very. The scenery is built from real-world terrain and aerial imagery, so you can fly over places you actually know — including into Phuket. Weather can be set to match what is happening outside, the instruments work as they should, and the aircraft handle according to modelled flight physics.

What it cannot give you is the physical side: no motion, no G-force, none of the seat-of-the-pants feel a real pilot relies on. That is the honest limit of any fixed-base simulator, and it is why the value sits in procedures, instrument work and decision-making rather than in stick-and-rudder feel.

A “full flight simulator” is a regulated training device — a full-size cockpit replica on a motion platform, certified for airline pilot training and licence credit. SIMPRO does not have one, and we would not claim otherwise. What we have is a professional-grade fixed-base simulator: real flight physics, full instrumentation, proper controls and VR immersion. It teaches procedures, coordination and confidence. It does not move, and it does not count toward a licence.

Partly, and it is worth being precise about which parts. A simulator is genuinely good for learning procedures, instrument scanning, navigation, radio work and the habits that make a good pilot — which is exactly why airlines use them. What it cannot teach is the physical feel of a real aircraft, and time here does not count toward a licence. Plenty of student pilots use simulator time between real lessons to arrive better prepared.

Guided flight sessions are run by the SIMPRO team, following a programme designed by Paul Chappell — a professional airline pilot with more than 23 years in the cockpit and a Qualified Flight Instructor. Paul personally takes the one-to-one coaching sessions, which are 2,000 THB per hour and available for both flight and race simulation.
